I am an elementary school Music teacher in New Bern, NC. I was born in Columbia, SC, November 14, 1960. My
family moved to New Bern when I was about 5, so New Bern has been my home for most of my life. My parents are both from
South Carolina. I have a brother, Clay Harley, who lives in Jones County, NC and a sister, Heather who is married to
Steve Bivans and they live in Minneapolis.
I received my Bachelor of Music from UNC-Greensboro and my Master of Music from East Carolina University. I've
also done post-graduate research at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
After I returned to the US from living in Scotland for 5 years, I met and married Paul Inserra Oct 15, 1999. Paul
has two adult children who have their own families in NC and TX.
One of my favorite things is to travel and I have been blessed with many opportunities to see the world, in addition
to living in Scotland for 5 years. Traveling and especially living overseas gives you a whole different perspective.
